Brittany Force resets record book at Bandimere heading into Championship Sunday

By Ronnie Kohrt

Bandimere Speedway was treated to an amazing night of nitro-methane, jet cars, record setting blasts and the best that the NHRA Camping World tour had to offer.

Top Fuel flew down the race track and reset records as Brittany Force took the top spot at 3.717 at 326.00mph. The final session blast reset the record as fans were treated to the fastest E.T in Bandimere Speedway history.

Force's top spot earned her the yellow hat, which she later sent into the stands as a souvenir. She will be followed by Steve Torrence at No. 2, Mike Salinas at No. 3, Doug Kalitta at No. 4 and Alex Laughlin in the No. 5 spot to round out the top-five. Pro Bike was paced by the husband-wife team of Matt and Angie Smith. The racing power-couple took the top two spots as Matt Smith led the way with his 7.11 run at 189mph. Angie Smith was not far behind, running 7.13 to slide into the No. 2 spot right behind her husband.

The E3 Spark Plugs NHRA Pro Modified category presented by J&A Service saw the first 5-second pass on Thunder Mountain as Justin Bond went 5.976 at 230.45mph. Bond took the top spot as Jose Gonzalez finished No. 2 and Steve Jackson No. 3.

The Constant Aviation Factory Stock Showdown went to battle as Drag Pak Dodge Challengers and COPO Camaro's did battle on the Bandimere quarter-mile. Aaron Stanfield came out as the debut driver to go No. 1 in his Camaro. Stanfield impressed with his speed and his wheel-stands all weekend and goes into eliminations as the fastest vehicle qualified at No. 1 at 8.234 at 164mph
