Event Update for the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil

(September 2, 2020)

Following a second postponement of Bandimere Speedway’s historic event that originally was scheduled for July 17-19, the Dodge Mile-High NHRA Nationals presented by Pennzoil, has been cancelled from the schedule for this year.   Attempted negotiations with both the Colorado state offices and Jefferson County Health Department have been met with not only additional restrictions but also continued limited capacity controls.  An iconic fixture on the speedway’s schedule for the past 45 years and boasting the longest-running national event sponsorship in the history of the National Hot Rod Association, the event draws race fans from all over the world and boosts the local economy by nearly $15 million.

The cancellation of this event is just one of many that the 62-year-old facility has taken off the April through October racing schedule.  Other major events include:

  • Night of Fire & Thunder (Race to Read celebration)/Main Event – originally scheduled for May 21 and August 1-2 respectively; combined together and postponed to September 11-12; postponed again to date TBD.
  • Denver Auto & Parts Swap Meet – originally scheduled for May 2; cancelled.
  • Rock n’ Roll Car Show – originally scheduled for August 16; cancelled.
  • Truck Invasion – originally scheduled for May 5; postponed to July 26; postponed again to date TBD. This event has taken place twice this year at another Colorado venue with large crowds and no restrictions.
  • Street Warriorz – originally scheduled for September 12; cancelled.

Unfortunately, many of the events at the speedway designed for street cars have also been cancelled, prompting additional dangerous street racing activities in Colorado communities.   On behalf of the entire Bandimere Speedway Family, we would like to express our thankfulness to each of you for your support that you have shown during such a challenging time.

A new date for the nationals has not been decided as of yet, and we are still working on what events we will put in the August 7-9 race dates. Please continue to monitor our website and social media pages for those updates.

Our ticketing department is working hard to assist all of you with your questions and concerns about your seats, so we do appreciate your patience during this time.
